We learned a lot from spending time with our families while traveling. A favorite lesson was one about family competition. In one of our relatives' family there is only one kind of competition allowed: they try to outlove each other.

To love harder is a beautiful reason to try to win.

Here is the first cup of coffee.

I found this bag for your computer.

What can I bring you for supper?

You did an outstanding job on that project.

That appointment you needed is scheduled.

Seems like you've had a long day, let me give you a back massage.

I'll get that, you go back to bed... you need some rest.

It can be simple but it takes intentionality. It also takes consistency and perhaps some optimism.

Nate and I are on the same team. As teammates we can't belittle each other, fend only for ourselves, or complain to others about our imperfections. We need to lift each other up and give our best, not just our leftover energy from the rest of life's commitments.

Love wins when we outlove. Relationships win when we outlove. Families win when we outlove.

If you try to outlove those under your own roof, I hope you win!

Many years ago, a friend posted these 7 tips and it seems to correlate with the concept of outloving:
